Terms of service

Last updated 11 September 2026

What this is

Mailsort connects to your Gmail or Outlook mailbox and files incoming mail into folders you have approved. It also files recent mail, within the window shown on your plan. It does not compose, send, reply to, or delete email, and it is not a mail client.

By using Mailsort you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

Your account

You need an account with Google or Microsoft to sign in. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the accuracy of what you tell us. You must be at least 16.

When you connect a mailbox you confirm you are entitled to grant access to it. For a shared or company mailbox, that means you have your organisation's permission.

What we do to your mail

We apply labels and move messages between folders. We never delete a message, and we never move anything to spam or trash. Every action is recorded in your activity feed with the reason for it, and every action can be undone — one message, one batch, or everything from a given day.

Classification is automated and will sometimes be wrong. When the system is not confident it files the message to a review folder rather than guessing. You remain responsible for reading your own mail; do not rely on Mailsort as the only way you would notice something important.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Connect a mailbox you do not have the right to access.
  • Use the service to process mail on behalf of someone who has not agreed to it.
  • Attempt to circumvent plan limits, reverse engineer the service, or disrupt it for others.
  • Use it for anything unlawful.

Plans and payment

The free plan covers 100 sorted emails in total, one mailbox, 3 folders and a 7-day catch-up. It is a one-time allowance and does not refill. When it runs out, sorting stops; nothing is deleted and you are not charged.

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. Seat-based plans are billed on the number of people in the workspace. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to collect.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and keep everything until the period ends. We do not give partial refunds for time already elapsed, but if something has genuinely gone wrong, write to us.

We may change prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email before a change takes effect, and can cancel before then.

Availability

We work to keep Mailsort running, but it is provided as is, without a service level commitment unless you have signed an enterprise agreement that includes one. Mail providers rate limit, change their APIs, and have outages of their own; when that happens sorting may be delayed.

We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue something you are paying for, we will give notice and refund the unused portion.

Ending it

You can stop at any time: disconnect a mailbox, or delete everything from Data and privacy. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to close, or that has gone unpaid. Except where the law or a serious breach prevents it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export or delete your data.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Mailsort is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including mail you did not read because of how it was filed. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, for wilful misconduct, or under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and any other consumer protection law that applies to you.

Changes and governing law

We will tell you by email before a material change to these terms takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of Mailsort will be brought exclusively in the state and federal courts located in New Jersey, and you and we each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose law gives you rights that cannot be waived by agreement, nothing here takes those rights away.
